Barcelona have began the season just as they ended the last in emphatic style as they thrashed visitors Villareal by five goals to nil.

Lionel Messi was once again at his true best, coming after a terrific personal pre-season for both club and country.
Youngster Thiago who also had a notable pre-season opened the scoring on the 25th minute firing home with ease.
Cesc Fabregas combined well with good friend and colleague Messi on the stroke of half time. Messi played a delightful through ball to Fabregas who rounded the keeper and finished with style.
Barcelona were three up two minutes after half time thanks to fellow newcomer Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean placed the ball into the corner with precision and celebrated with great joy and relief.
Messi was yet to get off the mark, but it didn't take long. He latched on to a terrific pass from Iniesta to score Barca's fourth rounding the goalkeeper making no mistake from close range 52 minutes into the game.
Messi scored his second and Barcelona's fifth in the 75th minute coolly converting Thiago's intelligent cross to take his tally to two goals and 101 goals in the Camp Nou (in official Barcelona games).
